Both are a safe and practical alternative to wooden swords that are used in various martial arts like ARMA and SCA or simple role play. The pieces are made using a very special synthetic material that virtually eliminates the problems and dangers that occur with wooden pieces. This synthetic material called polypropylene is shock resistant, and will not crack or splinter. For all common training contact it will hold its form. Only with heavy contact will it slightly dent or bend. Swords made from this material have been used against wooden weapons with great success.
